Stand With Our Veterans
Help them rebuild lives of purpose and independence
Here at Liberty House, we believe that every veteran should have the support and resources to lead purposeful and independent lives. Unfortunately, too many veterans in New Hampshire struggle with invisible wounds that can lead to housing instability and other challenges.
Liberty House is their lifeline. Every day, we empower veterans to achieve significant milestones, such as:
- Reaching a year of sobriety for the first time in decades.
- Gaining a stable job that sets them on promising career paths.
- Securing independent housing and reclaiming hope for their future.
Without Liberty House, local veterans would be facing homelessness or even more difficult situations. These brave individuals served our country and protected our way of life. Now, it’s our turn to help them rebuild their lives and rediscover their purpose. Will you stand with our veterans today?

Footsteps to Freedom
Life growing up was tough for Sheldon – abuse at home, drugs, and violence. Despite his hardships, he always felt a pull to serve his country and enlisted in the US Army as a combat engineer.
But Sheldon’s troubled past caught up with him when he returned to civilian life, leading him back to his old ways of substance abuse. He wondered, “How did life get like this?” That moment of reflection, he believes, eventually guided him to Liberty House.
Through Liberty House’s 4-step program, staff guided Sheldon through recovery, helping him obtain key documents such as his birth certificate and Social Security card, securing him a job, and eventually moving him into permanent housing.
“To the donors who support Liberty House, sometimes we just need that extra push or some help, and thank God for people like you,” says Sheldon. “You’ve changed my life.”
Finding Purpose Again
“Post-traumatic stress isn’t just thoughts, you feel it in every fiber.”
Patrick deployed to Afghanistan with the Air Force in 2011. Battlefield trauma and guilt over his role in an accident that led to casualties haunted him long after his return home. Years of self-medicating with alcohol and drugs led to homelessness. He thought there was no way out. Then he found Liberty House. With the support of staff, Patrick is well on the way back to stability. He’s stayed sober, gained essential documents that help him become more self-reliant, and is now pursuing his goal of working as a counselor in the recovery field, focusing on veterans.
“I have a sense of purpose that I haven’t had in a long time, helping people feel good about themselves again, like Liberty House did for me,” says Patrick. “I’m truly grateful to everyone who supports Liberty House – there’s no place like it.”
