Support Their Independence
Veterans who are a part of Liberty House’s transitional housing program are committed. They work hard to overcome challenges and put the pieces of their lives back together after so much hurt and pain. Since 2004, Liberty House has helped over 400 resident veterans.
However, we cannot do it alone. The two essential elements of success for our residents are to find housing and meaningful employment that can lead to a fulfilling career once they transition. In these respects, renters and employers literally hold the key to our Veterans’ futures.
Why Our Veterans
As part of our transitional housing program, we work with our veterans to meet certain goals that would make them ideal tenants and employees:
- Steady income and security deposits. Our residents are required to save up to 50% of their net income with us. This results in our residents saving an average of $5,000 to $10,000.
- A favorable credit report with a history of timely payments. All of our residents complete financial counseling with a volunteer financial counselor. The focus is on reducing debt, increasing credit scores and creating a budget.
- Polite and respectful communication skills. We are selective about the Veterans we accept into our transitional program. These individuals have demonstrated dedication and hard work in their journey towards leading independent, fulfilling lives. They have lived with other veterans during their time in the Military and in our program.
We believe that supporting our veterans – be it as a renter or employer – is a win-win. You gain a responsible tenant/employee, and our residents have an opportunity to continue their successful transition to a meaningful and independent life.
